Veneers are thin slices of wood, usually 0.5-0.7mm thick, that typically are pressed onto a substrate like plywood, MDF or any other panel board, which are then used as finishing material on doors, cabinets and furnitures.
Veneers bring out the wood's natural characteristics and turn wood into a versatile material for many different uses. It can be recycled and is renewable in nature, having the least impact on total energy use, greenhouse gasses, air and water pollution, solid waste and ecological resources.
There are a number of ways in which the veneers can be laid up.
The look and character of the veneer depends on the species of the tree and the way in which they have been cut. There are different types of cuts such as, Flat Sliced, Quarter Cut, Rift-cut, Rotary Peeling & Cutting from the Heart.
